Advances in Holofacet laser scanning
Abstract
Recent advances in holographic laser scanning, and improvements specifically in the Holofacet scanning system, are discussed. A method enabling multiplexing of a group of wideband channels onto a single scanner, useful for multiplying total data rate by number of channels, or for implementing independent simultaneous color signal recording, is described. A solid cylindrical spinner configuration permits operation at top speed plus multichannel operation and field-flattening optics. New axicon prism illuminating systems and a simplified anamorphic beam handling technique are described, along with the spot accuracy of the Holofacet scanner. Comparison of results from recent Holofacet recording experiments and earlier results show high performance sustained at very high single-channel data rates.
