FLIR systems today
Abstract
A description is given of the technology of forward-looking infrared (FLIR) systems, taking into account approaches which were developed to achieve cost breakthroughs of major proportions. Particular attention is given to FLIR systems operating in the wavelength band from 7.5 to 13 micrometers. The functional requirements of a thermal imaging system are examined and two-dimensional scanner systems are considered. FLIR tradeoffs are discussed along with aspects of cost and reliability.
