Theoretical analysis and design techniques for grounding to accomplish EMI control
Abstract
The importance of proper grounding for electromagnetic interference (EMI) control is considered and the approaches for conducting ground resistance measurements are examined, taking into account the RF (radio broadcast) method, the three-point method, the fall-of-potential method, and the ratio method. Attention is given to the ground plane, grounding conductors, methods of grounding, the system grounding, ac power ground, dc power (instrumentation) ground, structural (static) ground, bonding requirements, and bonding jumper parameters for RF frequencies.
