Low-cost processing and display system for radar tracking and intercept
Abstract
The new Bendix radar data-processing system uses computer-driven graphic displays. For reliability and maximum cost effectiveness, the displays operate in a distributed system without a central data processor. Consoles use identical hardware, and operation is determined by the program loaded and the keyboard commands of the operator. Radar and beacon input data and data exchanges between consoles use a common bus. The displays track targets, store flight plans, calculate intercepts, and transmit interceptor commands. Operators can display computer graphics or conventional plan-position indicator video.
