Optimal estimates of the total course-correction impulse
Abstract
The problem of obtaining safe estimates of the total impulse power and the optimal moments of impulse application is discussed for the ideal case and also for the case where faulty timing of the correction impulses and errors in the determination of the spacecraft trajectory must be taken into consideration. Approaches to the problem are examined, and a numerical procedure for solving a two-parameter two-impulse course correction problem is proposed. A numerical solution for a Jupiter mission is obtained.
