Discrete energy gamma lines of cosmic origin
Abstract
The paper reviews data on the line-spectroscopy of extraterrestrial gamma rays in the energy range 0.1-10 MeV, focusing on measuring instruments and methodology. Experiments for the determination of the upper limit of gamma flux at 0.511 MeV from various sources is described in detail and intensities of gamma rays generated in solar flares are determined. Balloon-borne and spaceborne gamma-astronomy is considered.
