Proposed nuclear laser reactor
Abstract
The paper discusses the conditions necessary to obtain from an atomic reactor a significant portion of its energy in the form of directed light. This new type of device is essentially a heterogeneous atomic reactor in which the fuel units are located in the heat carrier of the tube and filled with a mixture of UF6 with a gas to enhance emission in a recombination regime. Relevant estimates are presented for the He + UF6 mixture.
