Simple determination of shape and size deviations in industrial parts with the aid of holography
Abstract
A holographic moire technique is described that permits determination of deviations as small as .01 mm on complex surfaces by comparison between the workpiece and a reference model. The hologram of the reference model can be stored and then used in subsequent tests, the original reference model being no longer necessary. Static and dynamic interpretation of the moire lines is described, and application of the method to a motorboat propeller is illustrated.
