An Example of a Fundamental Type IIIb Radio Burst
Abstract
The dynamic spectrum of an inverted-U burst with intense striae in the IIIb component is presented and discussed. This example is used to support the postulate that the IIIb precursor in a IIIb-III pair is the fundamental component of a harmonic III pair and that striae will occur only in the fundamental. A model is described which may explain the confinement of striae to the fundamental component.
