A test instrument for measuring the retiming performance of primary level PCM regenerators
Abstract
A test instrument is reported that is designed to provide an effective method for assessing the retiming operation of primary level PCM regenerators. The nature of timing jitter and the major causes in commercial PCM regenerators are briefly discussed. The significant features of the test instrument are outlined and examples given of its practical application. A detailed circuit description is included and some brief comments made on desirable modifications for a general field version of the instrument.
