Experimental investigation of the wall effect on the readings of a hot wire anemometer
Abstract
The effects of heat conducting wall material on hot wire anemometer readings with a filament pickup were studied in laminar and turbulent boundary layer flows along steel or organic glass-nozzle walls. It was found that wedge pickups gave correct readings in boundary layer nozzle flows up to a distance of not more than 0.5 mm from the wall.
