Flow mechanisms and noise in control valves with model tests in the near sonic and supersonic range
Abstract
By means of examples from fluid mechanics which involve turbulent, near sonic and supersonic flow, the cause of wide-band sound emission and excitation of vibrations in control valves is demonstrated. To confirm processes of this kind taking place in practice, fundamental model tests were carried out as a research project in a supersonic wind tunnel. The tests and their results are described.
