Investigations related to the electron-beam generator system of an X-ray tube of high radiation intensity
Abstract
The considered electron beam generator is based on design concepts reported by Pierce (1940). A theoretical study is conducted concerning the behavior of an electron beam with a high electron density in a fieldless space. The geometry of electron gun design is derived and its practical implementation is discussed. Certain disadvantages of the first design are eliminated in a second design. An approach is shown for increasing the efficiency of the electron beam generator from 22% to about 60%.
