A search method for a synchronizing signal in communications systems
Abstract
A sequential search method is proposed for detecting the signal-carrying channel among an N-channel system whose sampling values of the output voltages are binary-quantized (assuming the value 1 and 0). In this method, all the channels are parallel scanned by means of the N binary components of the memory, followed by single-channel signal detection with the aid of a two-threshold sequential detector. Exact and approximate formulas are derived for evaluating the probability of detecting the signal channel and for determining the mean search time. The effectiveness of the proposed method is examined and found to be satisfactory.
