Complex radio physics research on high-latitude shortwave radio links
Abstract
Results of radio physics and geophysics investigations on three high-latitude shortwave radio links simultaneously, under exacting signal propagation conditions, are examined on the basis of about 800 traces of signal (carrier frequency) fadeout. Two links traversing the auroral zone, and a third in a subauroral meridional direction, are of distinct geophysical interest. Special attention is given to variations in the characteristics of radio signals associated with absorption, disturbances in the ionosphere, the main ionization gap, and sporadic layers. The initial data are analyzed for stationarity to eliminate errors in sampling.
