Analysis of conopulse radar systems
Abstract
The purpose was to analyze the conopulse tracking radar system which is a hybrid of monopulse and conical scan tracking radar systems. Two methods, the monopulse-conical scan method and the conical scan-monopulse method, were developed to extract the angle-error signals in this system. The extraction of the angle-error signals for small pattern squint and target angle was first described. The two different approaches were applied to the analyses under this condition. Since the angle-error signals depended on the antenna patterns used, they were expanded into the Maclaurin's series. It was called the Maclaurin series method. Each pattern was expanded into the suitable series for the practical pattern representation as alternate approach. These series were used for the extraction of the angle-error signals.
