Noncircular Motions in NGC 4151
Abstract
It has been proposed by Anderson (1974) that the cloud motions in NGC4151 are mainly due to the rotation of matter in the plane of the galaxy. The reported investigation shows that the distribution of radial velocities and of line extents as a function of the position angle does not indicate a pure rotation. The data point rather to the presence of noncircular motions in NGC4151. Measurements of the emission lines at the wavelengths of 4959 and 5007 A were utilized in the studies.
