Asymmetry of destructions in shock and shock-explosion craters.
Abstract
Impact and impact/explosion craters resulting from the oblique fall of a meteorite are characterized by asymmetric destruction. The action of the pressure/compression wave in the ground resulting from the oblique fall of a meteorite is analyzed, and calculations are presented for a 45 deg angle of incidence with constant and varying pressure distributions along the trajectory. The calculated isolines of the impulse of the pressure/compression wave agree satisfactorily with observed destruction configurations.
