Stability of the steady motions of a satellite in the generalized restricted three-body problem. I
Abstract
A solution is obtained to the problem concerning the stability of the rotational motions of an axisymmetric satellite under the gravitational action of two spherical or point bodies. It is assumed that the center of mass of the satellite lies at the libration points at all times. Sufficient conditions are derived for both the stability and the instability of the satellite in the generalized restricted three-body problem.
