Finite-amplitude convection in a compressible medium and its application to solar granulation.
Abstract
In the present paper the results of an investigation in the theory of finiteamplitude convection in a compressible medium with polytropic structure are applied to the construction of a model of the solar granulation. A discussion is made of the various parameters involved in the problem and it is shown that a reasonable agreement can be reached between the theoretical predictions and the observed values.
