3C 219: a double radio source with a jet.
Abstract
3C 219 has been mapped at 5 GHz with the 5-km telescope. Besides the two extended outer components and a component coincident with the nucleus, a jet was found which lies along the source axis between the nucleus and a compact 'head' in the Sp component. This jet is compared with jets found in other radio sources and the possibility that such jets are associated with the flow of energy from the nucleus to the outer components is discussed.
