The leading-edge effect in unsteady free-convection flows
Abstract
An investigation is conducted of a class of unsteady flows associated with the free convection boundary layer on a semiinfinite vertical flat plate. A linear free-convection problem is solved. In the problem a small amplitude disturbance is superposed upon the established steady free-convection boundary layer. An analytical description of the problem is presented and the eigensolutions are discussed. The numerical method of solution is considered along with the application of the described approach in two specific examples.
