Vertical natural convection in an adiabatically stratified medium
Abstract
Natural convection from a heated vertical surface in an adiabatically stratified medium is considered. The ambient temperature distribution is obtained and the governing equations determined for the similarity condition corresponding to a power-law surface temperature distribution. The physical significance of the limit on ambient temperature variation determined by the adiabatic stratification circumstance is discussed.
