Theory of transmission of impurity excitations by phonons
Abstract
The transmission of excitations between impurity centers by phonons during laser action is analyzed, and possible mechanisms of transmission are examined. The probability of excitation transmission is determined as a function of the distance between the impurity centers. The influence of the transmission process on the spectral linewidth of an impurity center is evaluated.
