Mathematization of the sciences and scientific-technical progress
Abstract
Papers are collected which deal with the role of mathematics in the various sciences and examine the process of putting a problem in mathematical form and applying mathematical method to solve practical problems in engineering. Some of the topics covered include probability theory and its relation to the other sciences, analysis of asymptotically enlargeable complex systems, mathematical methods for optimizing processes involving computation of thermal fields in weld-stress relaxation and electric power generating equipment, approximate solution of a nonlinear boundary value problem on the dynamics of a bounded volume of fluid with free boundary, systems of linear inequalities and their applications, and mathematical methods in problems of vibration isolation. Individual items are announced in this issue.
