Effect of Degradation on Intensity Fluctuation in cw AlGaAs Double-Heterostructure Junction Lasers
Abstract
Experimental investigations were carried out to determine the mechanism of intensity fluctuation in continuous-wave double-heterojunction lasers. It is concluded that this fluctuation in the output of a degraded laser decreases due to the gain decrease with degradation. As pumping current increased, peak intensity and peak frequency also increased. After long-term operation, the intensity peak height became smaller.
