New formulation of the equations of motion of an ionized gas in collision dominated regime
Abstract
A new interpretation of the method of matched asymptotic expansions yields a description of transport phenomena in quasi-continuous flows of an ionized gas. A binary mixture of ions and electrons is considered, and the description of the flow is shown to be uniformly valid regardless of the procedure adopted to make the mass ratio and the Knudsen number of the ions tend to zero.
