Detection of a coherent signal of known phase
Abstract
A novel algebraic technique is employed to find asymptotic solutions for Helstrom's integral equation for a singlecavitymode detector of a coherent signal of known phase. At high and low temperatures, the detection probability is related to the fixed falsealarm probability. When either the decision level or the signal intensity is small, a solution is found for all temperatures.
