Formulation of some adjoint problems of heat- and mass-transfer in the presence of chemical and phase transformations
Abstract
The question of allowing for mass-exchange kinetics in porous bodies in the formulation of some adjoint problems is examined, and the necessity of allowing for transfer processes within a body in the presence of chemical and phase transformations is demonstrated. It is shown that a well-posed boundary value problem for the diffusion equation and the energy equation can be obtained by analyzing the kinetics of vacancies in a body with lattice defects in the presence of a surface reaction.
