Application of method of characteristics to IEMP cable response
Abstract
Attention is given to the characteristics of a coaxial cable which is exposed to gamma radiation following a nuclear burst. The problem involves the solution of transmission line equations with space and time dependent parameters and distributed excitation. It is shown that the method of characteristics can be employed in the solution of such equations. Questions concerning the use of a Norton equivalent circuit in systems problems are also discussed.
