A note on the measurement and interpretation of the average power in troposcatter
Abstract
The simulation of the tropospheric scatter mechanism by Birkemeier et al. (1969), has been extended to include the computation of the instantaneous variation of the average power for 1-h data segments. This average can be interpreted as a measurement of the spatial variation of the refractivity turbulence within an elevated layer of the atmosphere and can serve as a guide to the interpretation of experimental data.
