A fast acquisition coherent P.S.K. demodulator incorporating passive narrowband filters operable in a quenching mode

The performance data obtained for the described four-level coherent PSK demodulator show that the operating improvements theoretically predicted are attainable in practice. The new demodulator configuration can, therefore, be considered for use in a satellite digital communication system. Device design objectives are discussed along with candidate demodulator configurations, the characteristics of the preferred system, and aspects of measured performance.
