A new CH star in the globular cluster Omega Centauri.
Abstract
A photograph of omega Centauri made with a transmission-grating slitless spectrograph has revealed a new CH star near the center of this globular cluster. The star's radial velocity is found to be consistent with cluster membership, and a visual absolute magnitude of -1.8 is derived. The total number of carbon stars now known in globular clusters is three, all of which are in omega Cen.
