UBV photometry of the cepheid V367 Scuti in the open cluster NGC 6649.
Abstract
UB V photometry has been obtained for the Cepheid V367 Sct and for the cluster NGC 6649 in which it is located. The cluster is found to have (m - M)v = 15.4 1 0.2 and suffers a reddening EB-v(B0) = 1.37. For the Cepheid V367 Sct, V> = 11.58 and B - V> = 1.76, so that M<v> = -3.8 1 0.2 and - = 0.49. A period of 5.255 1 0.002 days is derived for V367 Sct. NGC 6649 also contains a nonvariable star in the Cepheid instability strip. Furthermore, the cluster appears to contain two red giants, one of which is a variable. Subject headings: Cepheids and W Virginis stars - open clusters - stars, individual
