Structure and Properties of Detonation Waves. Detonation Waves in Dense Stellar Material
Abstract
Techniques are developed for following the time history of the nuclear abundances and the thermodynamic variables of a fluid element passing through the burning zone of a detonation wave. Application is made here to stellar material at high densities. Assumptions made in prior investigations are examined in detail. It is shown, finally, that a detonation wave fueled by 160 is self-consistent even when crystallization effects are taken into account.
