Refraction of light by ultrasound in an anisotropic medium
Abstract
Using an isotropic medium, several investigators have shown refraction of light by ultrasound can be used for angular deviation of laser beams. It is shown that, using birefringent crystals, the light emitted by a laser can be deflected by an extraordinary ray. The analysis is performed for uniaxial crystals.
