Three-colour photometry of the two galactic star clusters NGC 559 and NGC 637.
Abstract
Three-colour photometry of the clusters NGC 559 and NGC 637 in the RG U system has been carried out on plates taken with the CurtisSchmidt telescope. The first cluster is a heavily reddened old cluster with many late-type giants at a distance of 1.2 kpe or slightly more. The second cluster is a young one at a distance of 2.45 kpe located in the spiral arm + I. The field stars in the area of the two clusters show colour magnitude diagrams not very different from cluster diagrams. They indicate a space distribution in the form of star clouds. The old cluster NGC 559 seems to be embedded in the nearer cloud (1.2 kpe) which consists of young and old stars. Key words: star clusters
