Improvements to the SAW oscillator
Abstract
A SAW oscillator which uses an amplifier with SAW delay line as the feedback element is shown to posses a number of attractive properties which include: a well-defined frequency, and fast warm-up and linear f.m. capability. The optimization of the design of the SAW oscillator to provide a high-stability microwave source is demonstrated. It is also shown how additional components can be used to modify the properties of the oscillator to provide a high-stability tracking oscillator.
