Representation of the directional effect of large acoustic sources
Abstract
The noise emitted by a source can be satisfactorily defined by the acoustic power level and the directional pattern. No difficulties are encountered when dealing with small sources having an uncomplicated directional pattern, however, measurement of the properties of spatial extended sources is associated with a variety of complex problems. The problem of describing and measuring the directional pattern of such extended sources is analyzed. Some actual measurements data are examined.
