Laminar free convection in periodic and non-uniform body force fields
Abstract
The system considered includes a triangular fin rotating synchronously with its ambient fluid at a constant speed about a horizontal axis. Heat supplied at the root of the fin is conducted into the surrounding fluid. The governing equations of the resulting problem form a set of strongly coupled, nonlinear partial differential equations with periodic coefficients. The techniques for solving the problem are discussed, giving attention to a general approach and a method involving a perturbation expansion.
