Asymmetric mechanics of turbulence - The transfer of momentum and vorticity in a wake behind the body
Abstract
A case of turbulent flow in which the mean velocity vector and the pulsation velocity vector are in the same plane is considered. The conditions under which the equations of asymmetric turbulence mechanics are converted into the equations of the Prandtl linear momentum balance and the Taylor equations of vorticity transport when the mean vorticity is not equal to the angular vorticity are examined. An example comprising a simple variant of the velocity and angular velocity fields in a plane wake behind a body is analyzed.
