Vibrations of continuous pipes conveying fluid
Abstract
This paper presents a theoretical investigation of the transverse vibrations of continuous pipes conveying fluid. A general dynamic three-moment equation is derived including the effects of fluid forces and axial force. The three-moment equation is then used to study the free waves and the response to harmonic pressure in a periodically supported pipe. Finally, the free and forced vibrations of multiple span pipes are analyzed; the effects of various parameters on natural frequencies are studied.
