Development of superconducting magnets for magnetically levitated trains
Abstract
The development of full-scale levitation magnets is described, and results of dynamic levitation tests using small model magnets are presented. The basic problems in the design of levitation magnets are discussed (selection of the current density and supporting systems of the coils), and two supporting systems are described. The design parameters of model magnets and of three full-scale prototypes are outlined along with the model tests. The experimental results confirm that the impregnated coils can withstand mechanical vibration and AC magnetic fields during levitation.
