Dynamics of a single-axis attitude stabilization system
Abstract
The application of electric flywheel motors to the attitude stabilization of a vehicle whose longitudinal axis is oriented toward a fixed reference point is examined. The 'transverse' flywheel motors are controlled by sensors of the angle of misalignment between the longitudinal axis and the direction to the reference point. Several means of controlling the 'longitudinal' flywheel motor, making use of the signals from the misalignment sensors and from the tacho-alternators of the transverse flywheel motors are examined. The conditions for eliminating vehicle rotation are established.
