Automatic recognition of language in voice communication: Electronic digital machines
Abstract
The usage of language signals for information transmission in man-machine systems, beginning with all the information entering the computer, is discussed. The advantages and operational problems of a computer which receives encoded information in the form of language signals are discussed along with the possibilities of using this type of input in data processing systems. Other topics discussed include programming languages, models for recognition of sematic information carried through a language signal, classification of phonemes and segments, and sematic interpretation.
