SHF FM receiver for satellite broadcasting
Abstract
A satellite broadcast receiving set that operates in the 12 GHz band is described. A mounted planar circuit is used in this receiver for the down converter. The receiver is also provided with an FM-AM converter for converting the FM signals from the satellite into standard television signals. These two circuit configuration techniques constitute an effective means of rendering the receiver highly sensitive but ensuring low cost. These techniques, in fact, have made possible the manufacture of excellent receivers for satellite broadcasting in the 12 GHz band. Test results indicate, the total noise figure to be 4.5 db in a bandwidths of 180 MHz and 500 MHz respectively with an intermediate frequency of 360 MHz and 1.25 GHz. The differential gain and differential phase of the receiver was less than 5% and 2 deg.
