A model for the electrostatic charging process in fuel filtration
Abstract
The charge generation process in fuel filtration was analyzed in terms of an electrokinetic model, and theoretical results were obtained for the streaming current and potential in terms of fluid properties, bulk filter characteristics, flow conditions, and a fixed charge density which is a physicochemical property of the filter/fluid interface. Experiments with doped n-heptane passed through millipore filters support the theoretical model.
