On the operating characteristics of induction motors fed by thyristor inverters
Abstract
The operating characteristics of inverter-fed induction motors are discussed on the basis of state transition method. The usefulness of multi-stage inverters and multi-pulse inverters to improve the performance characteristics are shown. The mathematical model of inverter-fed alternating current motors are shown in the form of a time-discrete system. The disadvantages of inverter-fed induction motors such as variations of output torque and heat loss of the motors are analyzed. Experimental results on the operating characteristics of induction motors fed by six-pulse, twelve-pulse, and multiple-pulse inverters are shown in comparison with theoretical results.
