Study on the motion of shock waves propagating along perforated ducts
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental investigations on the flow behind shock waves propagating along perforated ducts are presented. Numerical calculations based on Lax's finite difference scheme and the linearized theory are extended on the assumption of the quasi one-dimensional flow. At the same time, by making use of the shock tube connected to the two-dimensional closed type perforated duct, experiments are performed with the shock Mach numbers 1.8 to 5.8 and the perforation ratios 0.088 to 0.52. It is found from the comparison of the theory with experiments that they show reasonable agreements for small perforation ratios.
