Dynamic calibration of pressure sensors used on engine test beds
Abstract
Measurements of unsteady pressure in solid rocket motor combustion chambers have to be performed in severe environmental conditions and require the frequent use, on tests benches, of dynamic calibration means. The systems described in the paper are based on the technique of modulated ejection motor. Two devices permit the primary dynamic calibration of a reference sensor in a mean pressure and frequency range representative of actual working conditions. The sensor and its thermal protection device may thus be qualified. Other devices provide the transfer function of pressure transducers installed at a distance from the motor.
